Privacy policy
Epilogd is a diary for the anime you watch and the games you play. This page explains what we collect, why, who else handles it, and what you can do about it. If anything here is unclear, contact us.
What we collect
- Your account: email address, username, display name, and your password, stored only as a one-way hash. Optional profile details you add: avatar, bio, pronouns, location and favorite titles.
- What you log: watched and played titles, ratings, likes, watchlist and backlog, progress, diary entries, reviews, lists, tags, comments, follows, blocks and mutes.
- Sign-in sessions: a session record with a coarse device label such as “Firefox on Windows”, so you can recognize and sign out your devices. We don’t store your full browser details.
- Network address: used briefly to limit abuse, such as too many sign-in attempts. These counts expire within hours.
- Waitlist: before public sign-up opens, the email address you give us, and the invite that brought you, if any.
- Contact form: your name, email address, topic and message.
- Analytics, only if you agree: pages visited, and device and browser type, through Google Analytics.
Who can see what you post
Diary entries, game logs, reviews and lists have a visibility you choose: public, close friends, or only you. Ratings, likes, watched and played marks, and your watchlist and backlog are public, except to people you have blocked. Public reviews, lists and profiles can appear in search engines. Close friends and private content never does.
Why we use it
- To run your account and show your diary, reviews and lists to the audience you chose.
- To suggest titles and people, using public ratings and activity.
- To keep the site safe: rate limits, spam checks and reviewing reports.
- To answer your messages and send account emails, such as password resets.
- With your consent, to learn which pages are used, so we can improve them.
We don’t sell your data, and we don’t show ads.
Who else handles your data
- Hosting and database: the providers that run our servers and database.
- Cloudflare Turnstile: checks that contact and waitlist forms are sent by a person. Cloudflare sees your network address and browser signals for that check.
- Resend: delivers account emails, and forwards contact messages to us.
- Google Analytics: only if you agree to analytics.
Title information and artwork come from Jikan, MyAnimeList and RAWG. We don’t send them anything about you.
How long we keep it
- Your account and everything in it: until you delete your account.
- Sign-in sessions: until they expire (30 days) or you sign out.
- Waitlist addresses: until you join, or ask us to remove yours.
- Contact messages: as long as we need them to answer and follow up. Ask us to delete yours at any time.
Your choices and rights
- Export: download your diary, ratings, reviews and lists from Your data.
- Delete: delete your account and its content from Security and account. It happens immediately and can’t be undone.
- Correct or ask: edit your profile in settings, or contact us and choose “Privacy or my data” to access, correct or remove anything else.
Children
Epilogd is not meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their data.
